Graeme Swann, born on March 24 1979, is an England international right arm off-spinner. He has been a mainstay in the England side since 2008 and with players such as Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad and Andrew Strauss is considered a key member of the team.
Known as a joker to his teammates, he also moonlights as the frontman for rock band Dr Comfort and the Lurid Revelations. After years in the international wilderness, a superb 2009 saw him elevated to the status of one of the top five bowlers in the world.
Early Career
It all could have been so different though. He began his cricket career at Northampton, where he shot to prominence not just with the ball but also with the bat, scoring 92 and 111 in a championship match against Leicestershire. The following season he earned a call up to the England squad at the tender age of 21.
